Mark Douglass is a leading glassworks practitioner for the past 25 years and is committed to expanding a discipline and practice based on meticulous research and development. His practice also involves the expertise of a range of fellow artists and craftspeople, and this necessary and ongoing dialogue is central to Douglass’ role as an artist.

For the past decade Douglass has tested the material and conceptual conventions of glass to produce objects and installations that signal and lead distinct evolutions in the discipline and history of artists working with glass. What prevails in Douglass’ career is a high degree of ambition not only for his own work but for the intersection of glass traditions with multidisciplinary contemporary practices. Douglass was awarded the Winston Churchill Trust Fellowship in recognition of his impressive body of work and contribution to the Australian glassblowing industry.

The new studio will be located at Melbourne Glassworks with his showroom still located at 240 Burnley Street Richmond

Upcycled Glass is a start-up dedicated to environmental consciousness and education in sustainability.
The amount of energy needed to melt recycled glass is considerably less than that needed to melt raw materials to make new bottles and jars. Recycling one bottle can save enough energy to power a television set for one and a half hours.

Upcycled Glass is taking old used glass and turning them into contemporary artisan glassware with a global conscience
